A PLASTIC RECYCLING CENTRE

Transforming Waste into Resources!

Next Chance Innovation Hub is a recycling center located at New Jersey, Off PM Drive, Makama in Makeni city that is transforming plastic waste into opportunities for environmental and economic progress. It is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a business in plastic recycling and waste management.

Using cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices, we are upcycling plastic into useful products and creating jobs for local residents. We believe in a future where waste becomes a resource, not a problem.

Next Chance Innovation Hub is not just a recycling center, it's a community hub for innovation and environmental stewardship. We are a hub for creative solutions to the plastic waste problem. From our recycling center, we produce high-quality products such as outdoor furniture, construction materials, and even art. We also offer educational programs to local schools, teaching the next generation about sustainability and entrepreneurship.

In November 2023, with funds from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Sierra Leone and support from Bintumani D-SL, a German NGO, Next Chance Innovation Hub organised an Environmental Literacy Class for thirty one (31) young people, mostly former inmates, unemployed young people and University Students which focused mainly on plastic pollution and sustainable means. It also established a plastic laboratory to support young people interested in learning basic recycling techniques.

In November, 2023, Next Chance Innovation Hub benefited from funds from the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project (SLEDP), a project co-funded by the World Bank and Government of Sierra Leone in circular economy particularly focusing on plastic waste recycling.

In April 2024, the Senior Expert Service (SES) of Germany sent an Expert Ing Dipl Norbert Hoffman of Bintumani D-SL to support the Next Chance Innovation Hub in understanding the operations of the plastic laboratory, including the occupational safety and health of the employees and the maintenance of the workshop and machines.

In May 2024, the German NGO Welthungerhilfe (WHH) promised to provide solar facilities to replace the current use of electricity at the production site, as electricity is the greatest problem faced by the business in its production process.
